James L. Shuler
In 2006 Mr. Shuler joined the Doney firm, bringing 30 years of combined practice, courtroom and jury trial expertise, and litigation knowledge. He was a partner in the New Mexico firm Rosenberg, Shuler, Murphy, and Meyer for 10 years before his appointment to the bench as a District Court Judge in December of 1986. After more than 400 jury trials and 19 years of service as a District Judge, he retired from the bench in 2005.
Originally from Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mr. Shuler moved to Helena in December of 2005 with his wife and son. He soon took the Montana Bar exam because he was "too young to retire." He enjoys hunting and playing golf in his spare time.
