Mr. Smith's practice at Doney Crowley P.C. focuses on environmental/natural resources, real property, and business litigation.  He also counsels clients regarding permitting, transactions, regulation, and other legal issues in these areas.  In this capacity, Mr. Smith represents a variety of clients, particularly small businesses, landowners, water/sewer systems, farmers/ranchers, homeowner associations, and local government entities.   Part of Mr. Smith’s practice is focused on representing water/sewer systems in ratemaking before the Public Service Commission.  A majority of his cases are disputed cases before Montana’s courts or administrative agencies. 

Mr. Smith grew up in Toledo, Ohio.  Prior to joining Doney Crowley, Mr. Smith practiced with the Great Falls law firm of Church, Harris, Johnson & Williams, P.C.  Mr. Smith holds a B.A. degree from Wake Forest University, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana School of Law.  He also holds a master of laws degree in environmental and natural resources law from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.

In his free time, Mr. Smith especially enjoys playing guitar, fly-fishing, skiing, and tennis.  He is married to Laura, also an attorney, and they have one daughter together.
